Holy Sonnet XIV

Due to my very bad labelling systems, books = literature in general. XD

Oh wow? I was doing research on John Donne for my PC assignment and my mind's just blown away by the sheer amount of analysis of John Donne and psychoanalysis.

I'm relieved, when I read all these, that I'm on the right track. I did pick up some of the things these experts were talking about. Now to substantiate them in my own way, and to pick out things that weren't mentioned.

Have I ever mentioned how much I love literary analysis? By that I don't mean analyzing for the sake of analyzing, which is what many kids are doing nowadays. Analyzing and sifitng out the true meanings and plausible meanings through the structure of words and choices the Poet has made is a great joy to me. After trying to right pseudo-poems, I realized the amount of effort needed to convey a feeling or a thought. Which is why I love finding the different facets of one same thing: to understand the basis of it and to understand more about the author.

Sometimes people mistake my utmost intellectual admiration for a simple crush. It's not as simple as that guys! It's like FEAR AND LOATHING IN LAS VEGAS TYPE-ISH. I am in FEAR and I LOATHE the pure distinction between my intellectual level and the said person's. It's adrenaline-pushingly depressing.

Request for my dear readers (for whatever number of you there may be)? Look through and help me select the best (few)? Because I want to submit some of them for the school writing competition.

oh man, donne. we read a bunch of him in lit class and we had an inclass essay on one of his poems, which i thought i totally bombed, but miraculously did extremely well on. it was "love's alchemy" and it made no sense to me whatsoever but apparently i bs with crazy skill because i did better than everyone i know. teehee.

hur hur, i'm comparing his 'batter for love' and 'hymn for the god father' (or something like that because i can't remember XD() ) and i'm starting to think that he's a slightly masochistic and obsessive person. >__>

all i remember is that he can be pretty witty. with "the flea." we didn't actually read that much of him. we did "the flea," "the canonization," "the bait," holy sonnet X, "song," "valediction forbidding mourning," meditation... er... i think some sonnets but i don't remember which. we had to memorize them among with 45-odd other poems for our final, too. not really memorize, but know well enough to be able to identify quotes from and be able to expand on said quotes for about half a page . :D
