hey alicia - happy valentine's day!

i have a question regarding the stupid waseda application - how specific were you in outlining your academic objectives for them? did you have to identify and name courses you want to take (through syllabus search on their website), or is that not necessary?

i'm going slightly insane because for the internal screening process at royal holloway i had to pick and identify specific courses i wanted to take, and i kind of wanted to use the same ones for the waseda essay, but quick check has revealed that THEY'VE CHANGED THE SYLLABUS AGAIN SO NONE OF THE OPTIONS I WANTED TO TAKE ARE NOW AVAILABLE, and i might have to re-think my options. i might combust in an explosion of grand neuroticism.

happy valentine's day to you too! :)

for that part, i just kind of gave more broad objectives like "i'd like to do courses in japanese literature/english literature because waseda balahalhaghaf" vs specific courses because like you said, their choices change like the weather these days...

yeah, we had to do the same picking out specific courses for the NUS internal selection, but the waseda essay itself doesn't need to be like "I want to take JAPANESE LEGAL SYSTEMS", it can be general and stuff. I checked with one of my friends who made it into the program a year back, and his essay was pretty much "I'd like to take business courses because that would tie in with my major back in the US" kind of thing.

oh no. please don't tell me they're not offering that creative writing course!!! i should go and check the online catalog now!!!

the whole application process made me neurotic and i'm still occasionally being paranoid about it even though i submitted to the coordinator already. hahahaa

ok thanks so much that really helped loads :) do you know anyone else goign to waseda? i know there's another girl? guy? at royal holloway who's going but i haven't contacted her/him yet. I also know the girl going to Keio and she's, like, HARDCORE even though she doesn't know any Japanese. I scared :|

:D:D:D Yesss Alfred Birnbaum is the main reason why I need to take this course. It's like one degree away from Murakami! >w<

no problem, glad to help! :) There's this other girl who's going to Waseda - she's an econs major - and I think the USP-Waseda double degree people will be going too!
