spiderpigI'm thinking of heading to Japan for a short one week trip next year - either during the midterm break or just after exams end and the rainy season starts - to just properly tour Tokyo and the surrounding towns (I want to explore back-alleys this time). I've been to Japan in the Spring and Summer - I should go in the winter one day and I can't visit them in the autumn till I finish school or like, go on an exchange muaahahahahah.
So anyway, breaking it down for myself.
Air fare - $700
Accomodation - $350 (50x7, staying at youth hostels which range from $30 to our maximum budget of $50)
Food - $350 (50x7, that's $16 a meal, three meals a day)
Transport - $180~ (Tokyo Free Pass for 7 days)

The good thing is that I know that I can get beds for $30 and food is definitely workable (oh mom n' pop places) and if we're just hitting Tokyo and its neighbours, a JRP isn't needed. So that's for around a week. I'd love to explore the quieter places of Tokyo like Jiyugaoka and well, just walk around leisurely and not rush for trains. :D What I'd love to do is start out at point A and say "hey let's just walk around and see where our eyes/ears/noses take us!" and end up at point XYZ.
While I adore Sakura Hostel, I'm thinking of giving Andon Ryokan a try, simply because it looks so lovely. It's like, sleeping in an antique store!
