I think I have a screwed up sense of humor. I'm making notes for my Literature Essay (LOL, due on Wednesday and I'm still leisurely typing out references and notes and I have six pages! Hurrah!) and since I'm doing the Hiroshima Mon Amour question, I've decided to take a stand that deals more or less with trauma.

So what do I go and do? I name my notes-document: Traumatic Notes.

Macbeth: A Ballad

Appearances are deceiving,
Foul is fair,
Three old witches (and Hecate) were conceiving,
A plan so evil and full of despair.

Thane of Glamis, Cawdor and soon after King,
Macbeth and Banquo laugh at this odd scene.
The prophecy by the hags true to its word,
King Duncan announces that afterwards.

From Macbeth, a letter
To his wife, the go-getter.
She wants power, fame,
So she starts this murderous game.

Appearances are deceiving,
Foul is fair,
Three old witches (and Hecate) were conceiving,
A plan so evil and full of despair.

Drunk guards, a bloody dagger,
Macbeth’s conscience makes him stagger.
The deed is done, Duncan is dead
The blame gets put on his sons heads.

He becomes King, his wife, Queen,
Banquo is the father of future kings.
Fearful of losing his throne,
Mad Macbeth kills Banquo.

Appearances are deceiving,
Foul is fair,
Three old witches (and Hecate) were conceiving,
A plan so evil and full of despair.

Banquo’s spirit returns to haunt him,
Macbeth goes mad, delirious to the brim.
His guests get suspicious,

Birnam Wood moves forward, with Macduff the Thane,
Macbeth takes refuge at Dunsinane.

“None of women born” can harm the King,
But Macduff is born by caesarean.
All hope is lost, day turns into night
Still Macbeth puts on a brave fight.
