Oka's mother snubs Emmy invite

Heroes star Masi Oka struggled to find a date for the Emmy Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday night after his mum refused to join him on the red carpet.

The actor, who was nominated for a Outstanding Supporting Actor prize, admits he desperately wanted his mother to accompany him to the Emmys, but she refused to leave Japan.

He says, "My mom is very superstitious. She tells me every time she's in Japan, she gets good news, like when I got nominated for a Golden Globe, or when I got nominated for an Emmy.

"She says every time she's in the States, she gets bad news, like when I told her I wanted to be an actor."
