Oh the BACKLASH. Link goes to Zero's blogpost about "Guess Guess Guess" fiasco regarding otaku stereotypes.

This sort of exemplifies why I stopped watching this show when I was like, oh, a tween? It's sheer bear-baiting, what they're doing.

If you're talking about the stereotypes they've presented, then I probably fit into the group of "宅男" pretty well. I don't go out very often, well not entirely 3 months but I can not "go out" (for movies or what not, other than school) for quite some time - two months plus being the longest I think. The hiatus between work and University was the best example. I think I just stayed at home for those two months and never really went out except to yeah, grab more manga. Other things usually came in the mail. One exception: er, I don't exactly practice ninjutsu at home lulz. pls ignore my Play! contest ninja cosplay kthx.

I'm not exactly proud that I have such an 'inward' life (as it seems) but that's the way my mentality has always been, even as a child before I got into the 'mania' of sorts. It's an extremist pragmatic life style, if one needs to classify it under something.

Then again, I've been an self-professed (need to add this in before hardliners start bashing me) otaku since like 8, so er, that probably doesn't really count as a normal childhood. Seriously though, unless I have something to do outside, I find it a complete waste of time to galavant about when I could be doing more constructive things. Yes, watching anime and reading manga DO come under that scope, but obviously I devote more time to just sleeping reading other things like raiding JSTOR or other online journals.

It's a mentality established by my family of sorts. We're "homebodies" if you need to use that term. We collectively hate crowds, and only bother to let people invade our personal space in Town or crazyplaces like COMEX if we have something to actually do there, be it look at XXX or buy YYY. There has to be a concrete goal and not just "look see look see". And mind you, my mum isn't antisocial at all. She's social to the point of being well, a caricature.

Anyway, I'll talk more about this once I've completed my academic papers. moar pain and punishments.

Geekblog under construction! I'm tempted to call the geek blog "tachikomatic days" because of my incumbent love for tachikoma, but then "kaiten soshi" sounds delicious. :D() INDECISIVENESS +10!

EDIT:

Hey, is anyone going to get the Lucky Star nendoroids? I'm definitely getting at least one of the Konata versions (probably the Chara-Ani one, seeing that the limited neko-mimi version will be a bitch to get), but I'm a total noob at ordering from Chara-Ani. Any advice? O: HLJ doesn't seem to be having preorders for it yet.
