Random note of the day: While the Transformers movie totally kicks ass, my cynical hardcore fangirl self (hi G1 Transformers fans and Beast Wars fans!) recoils in slight disgust at the sudden number of people who are suddenly into the revamped Transformers - ala their non boxy forms - and suddenly proclaim their undying love for XXX or XXX. I mean dude, when you look back at it, (as I've been reiterating) not enough Transformers too much Witwicky and Hot Babe.

More than meets the eye. :\

So anyway, I reconfigured my Petanto into a fangirl phone now. It's fully Autobot friendly and has been totally Transformer pimp'd.

Zomg. Ragnarok Online for the NDS!!!

[livejournal.com profile] campfuckudie wins at life. Cap'n Jack Sparrow is very nearly spot on and there is like mad crazy influx of really awesome characters.

Anyway, Hanazakari to kimi tachi e's J-Dorama has started!!!! :D It's completely on crack - I can say that it totally doesn't follow the manga but fuck, it's fun! The dorm rooms are awesome.

キタ━━━━\(=ω=.)/━━━━ッ!! Graniph is coming to Singapore! Everything remotely interesting or cool is happening today: NANA day or 07.07.07. To me, it's special because it's tanabata.

Tykki Mikk is so hot. Like. Really. I'm incoherent now because of his inherent charismatic self. In C168 when he starts tearing it's like zomg <3 Tykki take me in your arms now and kill me. I'm sorry Rabi. I have betrayed you.

Ninomiya is really many kinds of awesome over here. Hahahahahaa. His Engrish is really good <3. He and Sakurai are absolutely adorable in Yamada Taro Monogatari!!!! Yokozuna Corokke da ne~ Hoshii. Hoshii. Hoshii!! ... ii?? OMG KYA. Sho's hair is really swishy. I want my hair to be like that!!!!! So now in addition to Bambino, I have YTM to watch too.

I've started re-using my Sony Hi-fi (reward for kicking ass during the PSLE) system for a change of pace. There's some old skool school nostalgia about using a Hi-Fi instead of relying on mp3 players and iTunes/Winamp. Even after 7 years, this baby is still belting out nice resonating basses and trebles. Sony makes good stuff, and while their products are usually on the slightly more expensive range, they really do last.

Setting up of my eBay account is done! I can start selling my Beast Wars figures. <3 Part of me doesn't want to part with them but they take up a huge amount of space, the boxes and all. It's slightly disturbing how many 'useless' things I have. I bet you my Optimus Primal clock would sell for big bucks but it's not in mint condition - actually it's in bad shape because half the parts are missing. :D()()

Wikipedia states that one of the major reaons for hikikomoris being hikikomoris is the fact that they have the problem of differentiating their tatemae and honne. While it might be a somewhat exclusive Japanese phenomenon, being a generic hikikomori and not a "normal" isolated person, you've got to admit that it's most likely an symptomatic Asian problem - the battle between tatemae and honne, the face you show to the world and being your true self. The age old battle between those irritating Confucian values, putting others before self, all that noble, morally and society-friendly traits that we should all have. It's probably most prevalent in Japanese culture, but that whole "hammer down the nail that sticks out" mindset just applies to most Asiatic civilizations - and Singapore is no exception. I probably could go on and on about how our education system is a prime example of that but then again, we've heard it all again. Until we can actually come up with a viable solution that's not just "oh let's have a more liberal education system like the US etcetc", it's all just talk and no action.

I suppose most people feel that tatemae and honne shouldn't exist in the same plane. There shouldn't be a need for such distinctions should there? The social repercussions of having these two different faces have probably contributed to so many problems that I don't know where to begin. (In other words, I'm being lazy.) On the other hand, well, maybe I'm just a rebel without a cause, but I feel that tatemae and honne is vital for our society to exist. Somehow, you can't exclude this basic "two-faced-ness" in society. It's how we were centuries ago, and it's how we are now. I'm not saying that we all should go and have tortured souls now but a little distinction would create a sort of insulation around society. You have a way, a modicum of behavior, in front of certain people without compensating your "true self". Tatemae and honne should be more of 'guidelines' than anything else.

Personally, in my current semi-hikikomori state, maybe tatemae and honne do play a part with me cooping myself up at home. For the most part, I like being at home. I hate crowds. It's more of claustrophobia than anything. Then again, tatemae and honne come in because I just cannot be bothered with being tatemae to the outside world, yet I'm too apathetic too show my honne either. I'm quite tired of society. I'm tired of people.

In simpler terms, I'm being anti-social. A danger to society, as certain governments would say. Whoever said that "men are social creatures" should probably be shot. Okay, maybe not shot but just incarcerated for five minutes. Social creatures makes us sound like. Meerkats. Er, random fact for the day is over.

Anyway, I'm being incoherent. So I'll just end it off here.
