Melty Kiss
Jun. 1st, 2004 11:20 pmMy dad just told me something in excitement, and I mean he was sparkling with the info. He found the coolest shop that sold anime merchandise!. Then I asked him, "Sunshine Plaza? Bencoolen Street?" and he had this look of disappointment, like he couldn't show off his new-found knowledge. It just occured to me how weird it must have looked to the shop attendants, seeing this hulking man in business garb, go into their shop and look around. Actually no. He went it with me before they moved to the new premises, but still. I'm having eerie flashes of him looking excited and enlightened when he sees all these God-sent items. XD;; Sometimes, its scary that my dad likes anime and Japan as much as me. Its uncanny. I remember watching Invader Lum and Ghost In a Shell when I was a young'un, and knew nothing about anime. Of course the videos belonged to my dad. He's freakin' cool. O_O;;;
Oh well. The "holidays" have started and I have already died and gone to hell. Like I said previously, the Higher Chinese mock just ravaged me and I'll never be the same again. ;__; Today's Literature paper, which I should have kicked ass at, was horrible because the insane me thought, "Let me try to do all the hard questions and see if I can get an A!" I can just go drown myself now, like Kingshaw (the hero of the book we're doing) and escape all the humiliation I'm going to face when I get my paper back. The analysis of the unseen poem was a mess and I think I'm going to do so badly for that. T__T Why am I so stupid??? I should have just picked all the easier questions... AUGH.
Tamer and Hawk
Thom Gunn
I thought I was so tough,
But gentled at your hands,
Cannot be quick enough
To fly for you and show
That when I go I go
At your commands.
Even in flight above
I am no longer free:
You seeled me with your love,
I am blind to other birds?
The habit of your words
Has hooded me.
As formerly, I wheel
I hover and I twist,
But only want the feel,
In my possessive thought,
Of catcher and of caught
Upon your wrist.
You but half civilize,
Taming me in this way.
Through having only eyes
For you I fear to lose,
I lose to keep, and choose
Tamer as prey.
Gosh, I love this poem. I'm not in a position to say how much I love it, and why I love it. I just do. Jacob showed the class this poem and was asking us whether we knew the hidden meaning, and I said, "Marriage." She was so happy and the class seemed to think that Einstein just materialized in front of them. Apparently, knowing that makes me smart. O_o||| Personally, I think it can stand for any romantic relationship. I don't know, maybe it can even represent friendship? I have to delve more into the poem.
Yesterday, I went to Kinokuniya with my allowance to splurge on manga, but when I got there, the store was closed. I saw some people inside and I started to bang on the windows, and then I noticed a notice: "We are sorry for your inconvenience, we are closed for stock-checking. We will resume business tomorrow." I nearly died there. I travelled all the way down and its closed for stock-checking. ON ALL DAYS!! So I had to travel back to where I came from and bought my manga from there. I nearly bought FMA 5, to my horror, it was $12. Even more expensive than the Japanese one. I immediately returned the copy to the cashier. XD I must have seemed so stingy. ^__^;; I managed to get Full Moon O Sagashite, and am currently going "Mitsuki x Takuto!! <3<3". Hahahaha~ Fangirl-ism.
There's a chemistry practical on Thursday! I need to revise on my Qualitative Analysis... ;__; I cannot remember anything other than the basic changes... When carbonates react with something (which I currently can't remember), they produce insoluble white precipitate. Okay. Right. That's not going to be enough. I've got to hit the books. But I'm so tired... I had a 0900-1630 band practice today... I kept on getting scolded for stupid things.. (**EMO ALERT!!** XP)
My conductor needed some scotch-tape or glue to repair this stupid clarinet. So she asked me. I was like, "Hello? I'm a librarian, I don't have scotch-tape or glue.. That's the welfare-officers and the quartermasters' job!!" But noooo, according to her, librarians are in-charge of stationery for the band, which was not the case before she came. :\ Thus, I had to go begging for scotch-tape and my friend and I came down to our last two resorts: asking the PE Head of Department, or going to the science labs. We stupidly went for the first. We knocked on the door and no one was inside (actually, there was somethingone banging around). Then the PE HOD came out from the toilet, all wet and scary-looking and demanded what we wanted. We asked her if we could borrow scotch-tape, and the conversation (more like interrogation) went like this:
PE: *in a low, dangerous voice* What if the room was not open?
Both of us: What?! O_O;;;
PE: What if the room was not open, what would you do?? *stares*
Me: Er.. Go to the science lab to get scotch-tape?
PE: What if the lab is not open? What if the room is not open? Think about that.
My friend: ...O_O;;; The bookshop's not open.
PE: What if the room's not open? Think about that.
Me: The bookshop's not open!!! O_O;;;
PE: Oh. Okay. I was just asking. Think about that.
And she ducked into the PE room and shoved us a roll of tape without even looking at us. Then she stayed inside. When we wanted to return the tape, she didn't come out and we had to look for another teacher to pass it to her. GOSH! If she didn't want lend us some tape, just tell us!! Its not like we wanted to borrow tape from you. Ugh
And so, this ends my rather eventful half-week.
