existentialism on prom night
Nov. 21st, 2005 12:09 pmI'm in a bit of a fix. I need a new iPod because well, the mini has no more space for any of my songs and it's essentially my brother's mini, not mine. He kindly let me leech it from him because his phone has a whopping memory card (1GB?) so he doesn't really need the mini. Just that he's been asking a bit more frequently when I'm getting a new iPod for myself.
Did I mention how much I love little brothers at times like this?
The current iPod G5 no doubt has some kinks to work out.OMG BLACK!! So I'm really okay with either G4(colour) or G5. G5 technically would be cheaper in terms of both 30GB and 60GB as compared to the old 20GB and 60GB. There's only a $20 and a wtf $50 difference (random number) respectively. Extremely tempting to go for the G5.
Then again, I don't have that many videos to watch or even convert. I mean, yay for video but without the iTunes Store in Singapore(APPLE. GET ITUNESSTORE IN SINGAPORE NOW YOU FUCKTARDS), I kinda lose out on the joys of having a screen with relatively good resolution. I mean, it's a tiny thing. How fantastic do you expect it to be?
The whole sleek-ness of the G5 is extremely appealing too. I'm a consumerist too, don't forget (yes I just invented a new word). Yet I love the old roundish, small-screen, retro (I guess you can call it RETRO NOW) G4. But hell, 20GB probably won't be enough. :x 30GB is definitely a safe estimate.
Another thing would be battery life. Yes the G5 has a huge screen (as compared to the old G4) and its brighter and it eats more power but hell the upgrade of battery life is a plus factor. The 60GB one rocks even more. But yes, the battery-life eating factor of the screen is tough on me. :\ Is the battery life really 15hrs or 20hrs? (I did a check and the 60GB did surpass the 20hr mark. But the 30GB kinda flopped. Then again, the guy's iPod could be LUCKY~~)
I don't really give a ratsass about how thin the thing will be. I mean, uh I buy the bloody thing for storing my music (and possibly photos now), not gasp about how thin it is. Thinnes is a good point for buying, for most people. But when you have a fat ass like me, no matter how bloody thin it'll get... Haha. And if it gets scratched, so be it. Just as long as the SCREEN doesn't get scratched. :\ I don't understand why people are SUING APPLE for scratched iPods. I mean, if it ARRIVED scratched, that's one thing. But if you take it out and oh the air scratched it, well too bad. Apple didn't promised scratch-resistent bodies like they did with iPod mini.
and we know how retardedly cool it'd be for me to walk around school with a iPodG5 and possibly get it stolen. then again the G4 would get stolen too.
This sounds like I'm trying to justify myself if I ever get any of the two. Why? Because if I get the G4, people will go "Why did you get that? The video is out! It's cheaper too!". And if I get the G5, "Lousy resolution lah! Summore, you have videos to watch meh! Waste money only." So I'm in a fix.
Gasp. Peer pressure?
If only you just won the 60GB G5 dad. If only.
