Ambition drives me too.

Today, the vice-chairman/president/something of Singapore Press Holdings, who has 13 years experience of working under the Straits Times from sports journalism to even movie reviews. I'm really inspired by what he said, and even more determined to enter this career.

He described to us about how the newsroom works, how frantic and stressful the life of a journalist is. Many people went "O_O", but I know its my calling. I need the stress and the unpredictability of this job to keep me going. What's more, they just a minimum of B3 for English, and you can be from any faculty (from a Uni) to be considered for a job there. I'm so over the B3 mark... He also mentioned that he welcomes people to visit the newsroom and I'm going to pester Mr Wong to sign me up! This is one chance not to be missed! Maybe I can create a good/bad/lasting impression on them, so that years later, when I apply for a job there, I'll get it more easily.

I'm thinking too far ahead. Words escape me. I don't know how to express the thoughtfulness I'm feeling right now. In the past years, journalism has been one of my major choices, but now, after Mr Khoo (that's the vice-something)'s vivid descriptions about life as a journalist, I'm even more fired up to do so. Its amazing how one person can totally inspire me.

My class' next debate topic is, "This House believes that Singaporeans are parochial". We're the opposition, as usual. Why am I always in the opposition. :\ We're not against the best (note that I used best) classes, so we do have a shot at getting to the finals.

The Straits Times and Adidas have a competition, and I quote "in less than 200 words, tell us about your effort and determination in pursuit of sport. You could also include inspiring moments or definitive milestones in your life." Well, I'm definitely not a sports-person, but I have had more than an average person's share of sports, being a swimming enthusiast. I'm trying to get my brother to take part, since his story is really inspiring, no matter how irritating he is. I'm still going to try. The worst that could happen would be that my entry just get scrapped. I'm not doing it for the prizes, no matter how attractive they are (Adidas sponsorship deal worth $2500, or a trip to the Olympics, dinner with David Beckham). I need to get the exposure the teachers at school do not let me have.

Impossible is nothing.
