Oh God, I had wo tie (potstickers, gyoza) for supper last night, along with this fish-tapioca cake called pempek (or was it pekpem?), some tapioca cake, fried nian gao and a huge soup-bowl full of chendol.

Seriously, my whole family couldn't move from the condominium at Telok Kurau after the whole sumptous meal. Thus I declare fat American-Born Chinese women extremely good cooks. I'm not being a sizeist but calling her fat, it's somewhat of a compliment, since I really like her a lot. But dear Lord, I haven't had such fufiling home-cooked food in such a long time. There goes my diet plan. Pout.

As you can see, every where in the world, the Lunar New Year is the time to really put on the pounds and tip the scale. There is absolutely no way that one would lose weight unless you're in some war-torn country or tsunami-striken area. Still, people would find a way to pig out on something. I love eating all the traditional Straits Chinese goodies from our deviation from the mainland China eggrolls - love letters, pineapple tarts, bak kwa, kueh buru(I have no idea how to spell the name of the sweet puff), kueh bangkit... What else have I missed? My mouth is just watering again. Those are just the snacks!

Chinese New Year's Eve is the day where everyone tries their best to attend the reunion dinner. I've just found out (like a few days ago) that most families have either hotpot or steamboat for their reunion dinner? Do all families do this? My reunion dinners NEVER EVER had a steamboat of any kind. It's always the delicious Teochew dishes with huge servings of abalone, bowls of soup with generous helpings of fish maw and prawns. Somehow, big juicy chilli prawns are a staple of the reunion dinner. So obviously I'm puzzled when I read blog entry after blog entry about STEAMBOAT DINNERS. Is my family the only weird one here? Not that I'm surprised.

CNY's first day is THE day for gambling with my cousins. HAHA. I MADE A PROFIT OF S$10+~ Squee. I've never lost any money before (overall). Though, I would have won around S$20 if my stupid cousin (who was the 'banker') didn't 'bua lua/la'/blackjack during the first turn and ate S$6 out of me. >O

Gambling is always bonding time, since my brother and I suddenly stopped socializing with my paternal relatives when we started Primary Three or something. We'd usually just sit there and watch them talk between themselves, while we just looked on despondently. Then again, we're just boring fucks. Ever since we started gambling, we've slowly started to talk to them more.

This year, my cousins (aged 30+, 30 and 20) were talking about how they should bring me and my 17 year-old cousin out to clubs. It's a fact that I really dislike clubbing for the fact that there are too many friggin people cramped up in a small space. I have this thing against crowds. Then again, I've never been out with my cousins ever since I was 5 (and that was either the circus, or a Disney movie), so I agreed. THIS MEANS I NEED CLOTHES. No one wears berms and t-shirts to clubs. Unless you're a guy. Then my other cousin who's around 24(?) and as anti-social and quiet as my brother and I, suddenly asked, "Do any of you watch anime?"

I was gobsmacked.

This was coming from the guy who stopped talking to us after he... went for National Service (he used to talk while playing Street Fighter with us ages ago)and only opened his mouth (besides the mandatory 'hi's and 'bye's) two years ago to ask me about my education @__@ and a year ago to borrow my phone. To take pictures. XD()

My 20 year old cousin said no and she speculated how me and my brother probably did. (teehee.)I said yes and he asked me if what kind of anime I watched.

Me: "All kinds."
Cousin: "D'you watch Naruto?"
Me: o____o "Y-yes?"

o___________________________________o My cousin, I infer, watches Naruto. THEN AGAIN, he was a Street Fighter phr34k like us so... yeah... it's possible...

The Fengshui master on TV says that I'm not supposed to eat spicy foods and drink alcohol this year? WTF? NO SPICY FOODS? I LIVE ON TABASCO ON RICE. a;jfeipr However, he said that it's a good year for me to a) get married/engaged, b) give birth to twins (something about putting a PINK THING on a table) and c) gamble. ;D Besides gambling (and earning more money), why does my fortune suck so badly?
