shingo_emma!!! 誕生日おめでとう!!

Passing by HMV this evening, I could no longer ignore the huge signs of "CLEARANCE SALE" and "CLEAR OUT" that were practically screaming my name in lust. Like "Aliiicciiiaaa, come in and buy ussss, it'll make us feel soooo goooood!!"

Uh. Bad analogy.

Well, I walked in through the huge entrance and perused the shelves, hoping to find some of the CDs I wanted at good prices. Ah! There was one, a Queen CD!! But it was $17.95 (or was it $20?). A little disappointed (then again it's Queen. How cheap can a Queen CD get?!), I put that CD in the waiting list in my mind and skimmed the shelves somemore. Yellowcard, The Hives, some obscure band, Jay Chou, Ayumi Hamasaki, Rod Stewart.

Argh. I could only buy one CD.

Then whilst walking away, something caught my eye. Dangling from the ceiling, plastered onto the display table was "3 FOR $20!!".

Here lie the albums of yesteryears (or at least, 4 years ago), chucked away in a pile of demeaning "3 for $20". It's quite sad actually, to see all these potentially good CDs put like this. So I began to examine the choices. Bahamen. Uh, no thanks. What can I say, if you're in the "3 for $20" pile, the choice of good music is going to be kind of limited. Then I noticed that there was a Japan section (which was really a couple of stacks of CDs placed neatly side by side).

One CD stood out amongst the rest. A young man sitting on a sofa with a shamisen in his hands, an intense look of concentration on his face. The CD had "Agatsuma" emblazoned in a fancy font in the top right hand corner. It was a little inconspicuous. Basically, the shamisen caught my interest, and I grabbed the CD along with an extremely old ARASHI cd and the soundtrack to the J-Drama 24 Hour Emergency Room (OR SOMETHING. It has 24 hour in it. ;P) 3 Japanese CDs for S$20! A great buy! X3

So far, I've only listened to Agatsuma and I will loudly proclaim that if you need to buy this CD, or at least listen to it. I think he has a few other albums out, Hiromitsu Agatsuma. Shamisen has never sounded so good!!
