I punched someone in the face.
Apr. 27th, 2007 01:32 pmReally, I did. I was as shocked as you are now. Curb my enthusiasm now?
So the USP interview yesterday was smashing. I love the professors (I got a Soc Prof and a Engine Prof) and we all had a nice little heated debate about whether movies make people read books and talked about books, movies, doctors, engineers and really weird stuff.
Not to mention the hot Caucasian teacher in the next room!
I did make a good impression on them, despite my emo dress sense vs everyone else's office wear (YUPPIES!!!!!!!).
Today's SMU Law interview went well too! (My dad thinks I screwed it up but what the hell, who cares about him?)
Thank God I wasn't placed in a group full of yuppies. I just jest. My groupmates were Joyce from VJ and Siew Hong/Hoon a.k.a Ryan from HC. Dude, totally normal people and I liked them. We all actually wanted to show up in polo tees but y'know, changed our minds. So we're like the Original Polo Tees.
What the fuck am I talking about?
So yes, because Joyce was/is a tennis player, most of the interview was centred around tennis which kinda screwed us around. I mean, even the current affair questions were on tennis.
The male Prof noticed my 1st place in the Literary Quiz thing (guys, everyone know that I did it myself XD) and was like "hmm what questions were asked?" and asked me about my favourite playwrights and authors and stuff. :D Fun. I was like, "........ O'NEILL. HIS FIRST NAME ESCAPES ME."
"Oh, Long Day's Journey into Night?"
"YES. And the Iceman Cometh."
Dude, I haven't read the latter before but who cares~
We got questions pertaining to whether the BBC commentator should've been fired, and the quote "We must make Singapore into a Wimbledon" means - very tennis-y stuff. Then we were asked like, what our special hobbies/interests was.
I said very emphatically, "I am obsessed with Japanese culture."
"Sumo wrestling?" the male prof asks.
"Ah. I'm not OBSESSED about sumo wrestling but you've got to admit that it is a beautiful sport!"
So yeah we talk about Noh and Kabuki and the female prof chimes in rather cheekily "Anime?"
HAHA YES ANIME. <333 DUDE.
"Do you have anything to ask us?" they ask.
I immediately launch into my spiel about criminal law. I am passionate about it, I say. The male prof says that since crim law involves lots of things, well NUS actually is at a better position to provide a better education for Crim Law hopefuls. Haha. Well at least he's being honest.
My dad thinks I made a total mistake by asking that. I don't think so. At least I have a passion for something that isn't money. :\
So yeah, I think it went rather well. I wasn't a total wallflower. And I met Charlotte Tan! :D Best thing all morning.
And 'slike I kinda screwed up the 15min essay test. I just had to go and do the Shakespeare question. :\
