spiderpig: (not a ballerina)
I decided to take some time to post public, censored versions of the Japan trip posts, and separate them into day-to-day posts instead of the huge chunk of 3 posts that I rushed up. No real edits at the moment, just editting of less savoury parts which I don't want to remember and well, why not share the whole trip with the world?

Of course I have posted the censored version up on Tachikomatic Days but most of you guys don't read that so LOL.

In any case, I privatised the gross old posts so these are Canon now. haha.

Part of the Soshi's overseas series, here's the first of the Epic Japan posts. )

The next day we arranged to meet Yan Wen at Ueno station because he wanted to travel down to central Tokyo to take a look at the Tokyo International Forum before heading off to Yokohama with us.

The area around Tokyo Station was depressingly stark and bleak. A very different contrast from the busy streets of Shibuya and Shinjuku.

O'er here! )

The next morning, with Yan Wen going off to Himeji by himself, we all woke up at 8am to set off for Ueno Park.

Ueno Park is gorgeous. Walk in and you see a burst of pink and white lining the streets. It's the proverbial sakura walkways that you always see and read from books and manga. We walked amongst the throng of people surging forward and found ourselves a nice spot at the foot of a statue.

Kochi desu! )

The next morning we awoke bright and early (I don't seem to recall having any major problems waking Ellyne up) and checked out of our hostel before heading to Tokyo Station. We had a bit of trouble getting our shinkansen tickets because of the missing rail pass but all in all I managed to get them with my mangled Japangrish. I swear it's irritating when they insist on speaking Japanese to me when they hear my accent. DUDE, I AM A GAIJIN YOU KNOW THAT. SPEAK SLOWLY. O_O After we get our tickets, we head over to the bento shop to grab bentos for ourselves!

:D! It's my haruranman bento! Even with the sheet of plastic over it, it still looks delicious. I actually had no real appetite, but looking at it sure worked it up. I was drooling by the time I readied myself for the meal.

So my previous post stopped after my mad wild chase after maiko and geiko didn't it?

Going back to Tokyo )
spiderpig: (i'm SPECIAL. :: masi)
We returned to Sakura Hostel at around 10 or 11pm in the night and after checking in, decided to meet downstairs after half an hour to debate on what to do before the Tsukiji Market tour.

Fishies! )

The next day we meet Yan Wen at the Harajuku Station exit facing Snoopy Land (or... well, that Snoopy Place) and I apologise for being late because I overslept. Running gag for the day. Then it's crazy shopping time! My cousin already arrived here way earlier than us and already checked out where most of the better places were for shopping.

Yes, shopping.
