Rain is like heaven's flower petals cascading down upon us.
Esther's recent post about the kabuki documentary launched this idea into my head. I'm eternally grateful to Esther's sms-alert regarding the kabuki documentary - I'm alienated from TV so much that I don't really know what's on other than cliched Chinese dramas and retarded shows like Girl on Girl. Watching the documentary was a refreshing change from whatever and whereever I was.
Rain is both like the peony and sakura, disbursingdispersing themselves upon ('upon' seems to be the only word elegant enough for flowers) the earth. You have tiny droplets, feather rain, that gently caresses everything it touches - much like sakura. Back in April, standing in the falling sakura petals as they swirled around us in a mini-tornado, it was like standing in a drizzle back home. The only difference was that your physical self would never get wet from sakura blossoms, unlike when rain touches you. Your soul is drenched in sakura essence. I don't know how to put it in words, but when you are showered with sakura, there is that innately wondrous and incomparable clench at your heart. Forget the saying about how sad you would feel because the sakura's life is fleeting - a mere resemblance of what life really is - it is something... something that grabs your heart (you know that feeling, every one has had it before) and makes you go "ah.".
Then again, rain is like the peony wilting - as described by Tamasaburo Bando, it falls down with something of a thud - a heroic gesture of the flower in its last moments. When rain pelts down, hitting you with its large droplets, it reminds me of being drowned by peonies. Wouldn't the sudden demise of the peony be much more sad, much more impactful than the gradual demise of the sakura? Perhaps it has to do with an individual's philosophy in life. On the other hand, modern sakura could be classified under 'unpredictability', from when it actually starts to bloom and when the blooms will actually all be gone - perhaps this is what people are actually feeling?
P.S :D Esther! I think Arts Central didn't cut it off? I have a vague memory of it being broadcasted? You should get a comment box or tagboard so I can comment on your blog directly! Haha.

Ouendan 2 is extremely addictive despite it frustrating me to no ends. If you see me around the campus, give me a poke so I'll let you have a sample of how awesome it is! I've just managed to run through the whole game on Easy mode so it's off to increase rankings for certain songs before I start on Normal mode. The last level on Easy was insanely hard at first, and I kept on dying until I switched the music down and just focused on looking at the anal circles closing in. Rhythm sadly, has nearly nothing to do with the game at times because they tend to suddenly go and follow something really weird - like the guitar riffs instead of the beat which is DISTRACTING!!!
I WILL GET GLAMOUROUS SKY UNLOCKED!!! Only because I had a great experience playing it on Guitarfreaks and I'd like to see how they adapted it a DS rhythm game.
So Bandai's venturing into the apparel business now (news via Dannychoo.com)
( MOTHER OF BATMAN! This makes me want to get a PSP! )
In other news, I had created quite a ... 'sensation' of sorts at the CCA fair on my matriculation day. It involved grown men jumping in the air and shouting with happiness (joy might be a little exaggerated here) when I quipped "So do you guys have any vacancies for a baritone saxophonist?". HAHAHA. I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO SOUGHT AFTER IN MY LIFE WOW. Then the wind symphony caught wind (ouch bad pun attack!) of my presence and asked me to sign up too. GASP. I LOVE YOU BARITONE SAXOPHONE?
It's better to be a rare, individual and appreciated by the right people - then be rather.... well, cardboard-ish and loved by all.
Next post will either be about games or about anime/manga (I've got some things to say about the whole 'so will you hold your head high and introduce yourself as someone who watches anime' and the 'ANIMEROXXORZ IT IS FOR ADULTZZ' issue.). In any case, they'll be extremely ego-inflating and purely for my self-indulgence only. :D
