spiderpig: (FYI)
Hahaha.

Ellyne and I are being very troublesome tourists (tm). with our potential hostels/hotels. We're like giving them so much trouble which range from the uncertain numbe of people actually going and for how long. We hope they don't mind. I think I shall bring some omiyage from Singapore to placate them. Everyone loves omiyage. Japanese love omiyage. Can't go wrong with presents.

Anyway, I must thank Tsuyoshi-san of Sakura Hostel for replying very promptly to Ellyne's e-mail correspondences. From my side, I need to thank the staff at K's House and Sakura Hotel (Koshikawa-san) for their replies too. We've cancelled the tentative reservation at K's House already and are poised to do the same at the remaining two places. Haha. We're heartbreakers, and kiasu people, I know.

Quite interestingly, Tokyo Ryokan doesn't have any vacancies according to their e-mail but they very kindly included a whole list of other alternative places and info sites we could try. Good Lord, I love the service there. <3 Can I marry you, Tokyo Ryokan?

So here I am, sitting in a lovely swivel chair with a plastic file in arm filled with age-old pamphlets from the 2000 Japan trip. It brings back memories, that one does. Honestly, my dad does a mean travel itinerary and I bet that no Dad can top him. I've never not enjoyed myself on a trip he's planned, but sadly, haven't been able to experience any DadTrips as of late. Which is why I'm trying so hard to get him invovled. I want some of my Dad's genius to rub off on me. His do-it-yourself trips always never fail to satisfy, I still remember the long drives around the English countryside and the train-rides around Japan during our two weeks there. My dad getting by on bad Japangrish and the awesomeness of his kanji-readings and harrassing highschool boys when we got confused. I miss those times.

Which is why this trip is more than a trip for me. It's something where I get to relive a small part of my happier past where reality doesn't come into conflict with anything else. I get to enjoy my favourite place on earth (besides my bed) with a couple of great friends, meet up with others, practice my very bad Japanese on unsuspecting locals... Frankly speaking, I'm relieved that Leon is going because now I have a semi-Otaku coming with me who won't mind being dragged around Maid Cafes and Eroge shops. I know Ellyne wouldn't mind, but the reaction would be different.

I'm starting to get really revved up.

BOO YAH. MY PAYCHEQUE CAME IN! Okay, I'll have to limit going out and spending money (other than on transport) to $10 a week. Or I seriously won't have enough.

EDIT: Argh. Arranging accomodation is so troublesome.
