Despite being sick, I went with Clare and the enigmatic Mr Kurtz to the NLB's Book Fair held in Sin-Expo. Which honestly, was a total waste of time if it were not for the 7 books I managed to dig up from scores of Danielle Steel and other... uh... y'know novels. I think I went into a slightly hyper Singaporean-mode because after trying to politely squeeze my way to the front of new carts, I ended up pushing and shoving myself in because everyone else was pushing me ):.

But yes, there was quite a nice haul!

  1. The Razor's Edge by Somerset Maugham
  2. The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck
  3. Possession by A.S. Byatt
  4. The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy
  5. Far from the Madding Crowd by Thomas Hardy
  6. A Fine Balance by Rohinton Mistry
  7. The Reader by Bernhard Schlink

I actually found another Maugham book which was er... STOLEN!!! claimed by Mr Kurtz instead. Pshaw. :\ I was exceptionally pissed off because of certain coughRJCcough students hoarded all the good books to themselves and took an insanely long leisurely time figuring out what they wanted or not. WTF LAH.

Anyway, after surviving in crowds of Singaporeans who don't actually read but just grab whatever books they can find and then proceed to plomp themselves on the floor spending hours sorting out what they don't way, we ended up in Changi Airport for lunch.

We went wandering around all over terminal 1 and 2 trying to find Popeyes and I think I just killed myself further by y'know, ordering OILY FRIEd FOOD. But mmm. Mashed potato was so good.

I don't know how I started talking to Clare about hammerspace, but then when I made a reference to Filia from Slayers and her mace, Clare went "Maize? She keeps corn under her skirt?"

XDXDXDXDXDXD PRICELESS.
