earthquake.

Was watching the news on NTV and fuck, there's been another earthquake in Iwate.

more info here.

What struck me, about the report, was a scene where this old woman (a farmer) had this HUGE GASH across her right arm. It was horrendous. But she was perfectly calm.

Wow.

Japan TV is torturous. It's either food shows (OMGGG :D~~) or news reports about the earthquake. There's only one other variety show that I can watch at the moment but it's er, kind of boring. D:

japan 2009

I'm thinking of heading to Japan for a short one week trip next year - either during the midterm break or just after exams end and the rainy season starts - to just properly tour Tokyo and the surrounding towns (I want to explore back-alleys this time). I've been to Japan in the Spring and Summer - I should go in the winter one day and I can't visit them in the autumn till I finish school or like, go on an exchange muaahahahahah.

So anyway, breaking it down for myself.

using the old calculations from last year )

The good thing is that I know that I can get beds for $30 and food is definitely workable (oh mom n' pop places) and if we're just hitting Tokyo and its neighbours, a JRP isn't needed. So that's for around a week. I'd love to explore the quieter places of Tokyo like Jiyugaoka and well, just walk around leisurely and not rush for trains. :D What I'd love to do is start out at point A and say "hey let's just walk around and see where our eyes/ears/noses take us!" and end up at point XYZ.

While I adore Sakura Hostel, I'm thinking of giving Andon Ryokan a try, simply because it looks so lovely. It's like, sleeping in an antique store!

I'm looking for a group of companions (around 3 people :D) so I AM LOOKING AT YOU GUYS [livejournal.com profile] spirylstatic, [livejournal.com profile] thesquaresaside and [livejournal.com profile] happysleepylee!!!!! (AND AH SIM, who isn't in SG at the moment!)
