ehhhh?! wagashi is SWEETER than western cakes :x this is from a person who is a member of Singapore's wagashi-club (spend $75 and above at the Taka wagashi branch to join) Really. Most pastillage wagashi is usually pure sugar flavoured with flower essence - it goes well with green tea, but nothing else. Seriously. They have tea ceremonies every few months at River Valley and it's good but ZOMG!sweet.

Actually I like the autumn wagashi better ^^ it's less sweet, and really really richly favoured. The best best item is the persimmon yokan with kuromitsu and the amaguri pie with kurogoma seeds<3<3<3
